Helping People Find Closure — Not Just Settlement

In medical malpractice cases, the legal process can go on for years.

Depositions. Expert reports. Motions. Continuances. More waiting.

And throughout all of it, the people at the center of the case — the patient or family who experienced a loss, the physician or healthcare provider whose practice and reputation are on the line — are often in a kind of extended limbo.

Closure is hard to find in that environment.

Settlement is not the same thing as closure. But when a case resolves in a way that is fair, that acknowledges what happened, and that allows everyone involved to move forward, closure becomes possible in a way that a verdict, win or lose, sometimes cannot provide.

That is one of the things I value most about the work I do as a mediator.

I am not here to determine who is right. I am here to help parties navigate one of the most difficult processes in the legal system and where appropriate, to help them find a resolution that allows real life to resume.
